Climate Control

Well, my orientation with the rest of my group starts today. My fabulous mother and I have just finished a ten day tour of England's worst Wi-Fi spots. We started in a lovely inn in the quaint town of Dorking. The town is famous for it's markets that used to take up the entire town center. The only remnants of this bit of history are the horse posts outside and the inn. The (very) low ceiling beams gave me a sense of nostalgia for days past, which became especially easy when I hit my head on them and started hallucinating.
Another part of the old coaching inn that made me think about previous travelers was the temperature. My mother and I were in the brand new part of the inn, which was built around 1800. Our room was considered one of the warmest, which didn't come as much consolation after our radiator did not turn on. In the true fashion of all country inn-keepers, when we inquired about our lack of heat, he nodded and then did nothing about it.
After a lovely week with the family and several drunken Pictionary nights my mother and I headed to London, where I will be residing for the next several months. Although I will be staying in a Hostel from now on, until I find a flat, while my mother was here we stayed in a rather posh hotel. So posh in-fact that we were victim to their overindulgent showing off. They have insisted that they need to keep the temperature of the hotel at a balmy 85 degree's Fahrenheit (or 29.5 Celsius for those of you who are imperially challenged). This not only is an obvious statement about how much they care about their heating bill (which it generally 3x more expensive to run then their parallel American counterparts) but also just generally annoying. First I spend my nights frosting, then I spend them roasting.
Oh well, I will basically not even have a bed for the next few days, so I'm sure I will complain more after that.
For now, I just want to say that I had the most amazing time going around the south of this Island with my mother, who now has to brave going back to the states with a terrible snow storm on the frontier... So lets hope the weather is good both here and in the US for the next few days.
